Giving yourself permission to forgive yourself today

Today, I wanted to look at the topic of forgiveness — more specifically forgiving ourselves. Inwardly, you may be ‘beating yourself up’ for what you might have said in the past and condemning yourself at the same time. You may be blaming yourself for the consequences of your actions and feeling saddled with guilt. You may be too ashamed to look at yourself in the mirror. You may be living today with past self-regret — questioning yourself on how your life ended up this way.

Strengthening your ‘inner man’ involves forgiving yourself for your past actions, forgiving yourself in your part in the divorce, forgiving yourself for the family relationship breakdown, forgiving yourself for succumbing to drink and drugs, forgiving yourself for being reckless. Give yourself permission today to forgive yourself today. You don’t need to carry around that rucksack of guilt, shame, and condemnation anymore. God doesn’t want you carrying around this emotional burden. God doesn’t want you living a life full of hatred and self-condemnation. He loves you. He doesn’t judge you. Do you want your children to live the rest of their lives in shame and remorse? Similarly, God doesn’t want you living the rest of your lives burdened with unforgiveness and imprisoned in past regret

Say the following statement with me filling in the blanks

I forgive myself for ____________and ___________ and __________ I am truly sorry

Say out loud the following statement filling in the blanks

<Your name> I forgive you for _______ and___________ and _________ I am truly sorry

Men, you are loved. You are FORGIVEN. You are precious. It’s not too late to start over. Forgiveness starts with you.

‘The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end. They are new every morning. Great is thy faithfulness’ Lamentations 3:22–23
