Why Self Care is important for your recovery
There may be times we look back at the past with regret — questioning our choices and decisions. Choices which seemed right to us personally at the time, but ultimately proved to be wrong in hindsight. We know we cannot change the past. We can only draw lessons from it as the cliché goes .
Our journey of awareness starts when we try to disconnect from and distance ourselves from our past hurt and pain. We may struggle when a particular incident, sound, memory and song, resurrects the cycle of emotional pain, which drives us from the ‘here and now’ and straight back into the past.
Today is a new day my friend. Today is the day of ‘Choice’. Today is the day when we choose to look ahead, and move forward without turning around and turning back. Today is the day of ‘newness’. We survived. We graduated from the University of Life and the School Faculty of hard knocks. You got back up on your feet — however, long it took. Lift your head-up high. You are no longer ‘yesterday’s you’.
You are stronger, wiser and bolder. You are growing — changing from glory to glory. You are growing older , yet at the same time, the ‘inner- you’ is gaining strength and momentum daily. You are strengthening your emotional muscle as you head towards new opportunities, new goals, a new purpose, new project, new you and a new destiny. Embrace the new. Give yourself the gift of new. Define your ‘new’ — bring on the new.
