Why you deserve the gift of Self Care?

Dear Reader, let me ask you a question. How do you define self-care? How do you care for yourself? What self-care strategies and techniques do you have in place? Do you believe in self-care? How do you nourish yourself not physically but emotionally? Are you giving all your time and energy away looking after your family? Are you burning away your mental energy at work? Are you using up all your mental juices to find solutions and to address problems in your personal life? How do you feel the tank? I am not talking about your car. I am referring to you.

We cannot run through life on empty in a similar way that a car cannot be driven to its destination without fuel.

Self-care is a gift to ourselves, on how much we appreciate and value ourselves. Self-care is simple. It doesn’t need to be complicated nor time-consuming. It can involve taking 15–20 minutes to take a leisurely stroll in the fresh air or reading your favourite book. It may involve listening to our favourite music, going on date-nights with our significant others, having an early night to conserve our energy. It could be going to the barbers or meeting up with friends to play snooker. Self-care can also be scheduling time for the doctor for a health check-up.
