Writing your vision and engraving it.
Did you know that the principle of achieving a goal was originally found in biblical wisdom? The scriptural verse which comes to mind is the verse in the Book of Habbakuk Chapter Two verse Two which says:
And the Lord answered me and said, Write the vision and engrave it so plainly upon tablets that everyone who passes may [be able to] read [it easily and quickly] as he hastens by
The key here is to write down your goals, dreams, your mission and your vision. Research has proven that if you write down your goals, you are more likely to achieve your goals compared to someone who hasn’t written them down.
What are your dreams and goals? In school, we were always asked as, children, what we wanted to be when we grow up. I believe we should be asking ourselves the same questions as adults. What do you aspire to be 5 years from now? What do you hope to achieve in ten years? How do you see yourself in three years? Whatever dream or vision comes into your mind? Make sure you write your dreams down.
The book of Habakkuk informs the reader to write legibly and clearly. I always wondered why Habbakuk made such an obvious statement. Upon deeper reflection, I believe Habbakuk was highlighting how clarity in writing reflects clarity in thinking which leads to clarity in articulating our future dreams and visions.
If there is one thing to take away from reading this blog, it would be to write your dreams, goals and vision out in big block letters, so that it can be read on the run — no matter what season or month, we are in now.
